Peripheral neuropathy is a prevalent condition in the US, affecting over 20 million individuals. The risk is even higher among people with diabetes, who make up 30% of this population over the age of 40. Other risk factors include chemotherapy or HIV drug treatments, Long COVID, and advanced age. This condition is characterized by tingling, burning, or numb sensations in the hands and feet and can also overlap with restless leg syndrome.Unfortunately, peripheral neuropathy has no cure. Current management strategies primarily involve the use of pain medications. However, research has shown that regular acupuncture treatments over an extended period can lead to a significant 70% chance of improvement, as measured by nerve conductivity testing and daily activities. The intensity of symptoms, degree of nerve damage, and managing blood sugar and blood pressure are key factors to consider in this approach. We utilize a comprehensive, evidence-based approach to treating peripheral neuropathy at Flying Needle Acupuncture. We invite you to contact us for a ten-minute phone consultation to see if our approach fits you.
